Very grateful that you have your fingers on the pulse as well as the impulse to share what you know, Ilona. I’m becoming disenchanted with insta and am noticing that my posts there have been getting less and less attention. It was good while it lasted, but it’s usefulness is diminishing as it becomes a cesspool of fat cat videos (admittedly adorable) and spammers trying to get me to sell their jewellery/dog collars /insert whatever other trumpery stuff springs to mind…
Thanks India. I still see plenty of value in the space, I just think maybe we need to keep an eye on what the goal from being there is, and make sure our time spent in app is intentional. I hate to say it, but if you are seeing fat cat videos and the like, it will be because you have, like it or not spent time looking at those things and so the alg thinks you want to see more of them. My feeds and suggestions are pretty much entirely floristry, pottery, art, printmaking and Air BNB accounts.... buuuuut I have been incredibly committed to not looking at anything else. Which is hard sometimes when people post memes etc to their Stories because, like you said, they are very cute and engaging. Also, I don't follow any accounts that sit outside the quiet creative sphere, except maybe one or two marketing accounts.
I also believe that you are probably in a place now where it doesn't matter if you don't have a committed Instagram schedule. You've proven yourself if you will, and a general maintenance is all that is really needed. If you want to keep up conversation with community there may be better ways to do it.
Thanks Wendy. Yeah it's one thing I haven't seen many people talk about. I don't mind using AI as a very broad generator of jump off points when you are looking to just get something down on a page, but I think that the gold lies in our authentic selves and expression thereof, and the communities and connections we make off the back of that. X
Thanks so much for de-coding this new feature. I had noticed it on my phone and was concerned about the AI part. I am an "oh no!" person and worried about the use of AI everywhere we turn. many thanks for sharing your research with us. xx

I think I struggle with setting time aside to learn it all on top of trying to make space to make work.
If you are an artist, at this point in time I don’t see there’s huge value in delving into it so I wouldn’t worry too much about that 😊 x
I really appreciate your research into this. I've not ventured into it yet. The comments about homogeneity are really interesting.
